Wise steered clear of trouble to win the 30-lap USAC National
Midget Car Series feature, Saturday Night at The Raceway at
PowerCom Park. Wise survived three caution flags, and four red
flags to score his first victory driving for Tony Stewart
Racing.
Second place running Alex Pruett flipped
before the opening lap could be completed. On the restart a
caution appeared for debris. On the third restart Brad Loyet
flipped violently in turn one exiting the track, landing outside
the turn two wall.
Finally underway Craig Carey paced the
initial eight laps before Wise who moved past Casey Shuman on
the fifth place for second place took the lead on the eight lap.
By the midway point point Wise enjoyed a 2.6 second lead.
Meanwhile Dave Darland who restarted on the opening lap in last
place had moved into the top ten.
On the 27th lap Shuman running third
slowed on the track creating a caution. On the restart fourth
place Kevin Doty got tangled up with lapped cars causing him to
flip. On the next restart Darland flipped in corner two.
Wise again pulled away from
the field as positions in the top five changed over the final
three laps. Trailing Wise to his second career USAC National
Midget win were new series point leader Jay Drake, Cole Carter,
Carey, and Davey Ray.
